Sekhmet Speech

I am the most powerful goddess in Egypt, I am Sekhmet. I have helped protect my pharaohs in battle against our enemies; I use fire arrows to destroy these enemies. My breath is the hot dessert; I am the destructive force of the Sun.

I am Sekhmet known as the eye of Ra, the Sun god, for I am his daughter. I am the goddess of Upper Egypt, my duty is the same as Bast’s, the war god of Lower Egypt but I am more powerful then she could ever be for I am Sekhmet.

I am Sekhmet, Lady of Slaughter; I am the goddess of war and destruction. I am wife and sister of Ptah the creator god and I am the mother of Nefertem. I am Sekhmet, Lady of Pestilence, as part of my destructive side I am also disease and plague.

I am Sekhmet, daughter of Ra. I was created by the fire of Ra’s eye. I was created to destroy Lower Egypt but I got out of hand and almost destroyed mankind. I drank the blood of the people I slaughtered but I was tricked into drinking beer and red wine instead of blood…I fell and was unconscious. Ra had made me, Sekhmet become Hathor the goddess of love, music and fertility.

I am still known as the most powerful goddess of Egypt. I will still be known as Sekhmet the goddess of War and Destruction. I will still be known as the goddess with the head of a lioness. I will still be known as Eye of Ra. I will not be forgotten. I am Sekhmet.

Famous Egyptians Reflection

Today during our class I heard lots of interesting speeches, my favourite was about King Tutankhamon because Salah said his speech very well and his facts were very interesting. My favourite part about the speeches were the costumes. The best costume i think was Thomas’ although he did not make his it was very nice.

If I were to do this presentation again, I would try to act out more because from what I heard from people’s comments, I was just reading off the paper and was not acting out. I had fun researching and writing out the speech.

Current Event : Millions face hunger from climate change

What is the issue?

The issue is that global warming can cause alot of damadge by the time it is 2050.

Who is involved?

The whole WORLD is involved because we are the ones responsable for making global warming happen for we are the ones that let out greenhouse gasses when we burn plastic, make industries, making more cars and many other ways.

Who is affected and how?

The whole world is affected because millions of people will face hunger, face huge hurricanes formed by warm waters, all the ice will melt and the sea level will rise which means there will be more floods, every continent in the world has their own problems such as Europe having floods and water shortages and in Asia almost 100 million people will face thr risk of floods from the sea that are expected to rise about 0.12 inches. Floods, landslides, droughts and storm surges are very likely to become more frequent and intense.

What would you do if you were directly involved?

If I were directly involve I would try to reduce greenhouse gasses and help people to reduce more industries and factories.

Homework for block H and E (30/11/06)

I learnt a lot of things in this class. I learnt about the empires in Africa and about weapons and the people of these places. I learnt that Songhai was as big as Ghana and Mali combined. I learnt that before iron was invented people use bones and stone as spearheads. They made spearheads by first breaking iron in to smaller pieces, then melt it above fire and finally when it has cooled off the people will carve it into spearheads. I also learned that Mali lasted for 200 years.

Title of article: Ex-Malaysian PM has heart attack

Website article: BBC news

Date published: Thursday, 9 November 2006

Date we looked at this site: 10 November 2006

Source to Vanessa’s current event: http://vanessa6.learnerblogs.org/2006/11/09/ex-malaysian-prime-minister-suffers-heart-attack/

How are your two events connected?

Our two events are connected because in my current event people’s feelings are hurt because they have lost family members and people could have died, in Vanessa’s current event Dr. Mahathir might die and since everybody liked him very much, this could hurt their feelings and his family members could get very sad.

What did you find interesting about this topic?

What I found interesting was that how much the citizens of Malaysia liked this Dr. Mahathir more than Pak Lah since Mahathir is not our PM anymore.

What did you like about this initial posting?

I liked the fact that Vanessa explained everything clearly and that she wrote a lot about what had happened to Dr. Mahathir

What do you think Vanessa should work on?

I think she should have more Links to information about this topic because if some people don’t understand something they need to look at more information, they can google it but if you are presenting you need to give information to people with just one click.
